Careers Programme

Each student is considered as an individual and their abilities are taken into account.
The aim of Careers education at St Martin’s is to provide all students with the skills they require to enable them to reach their potential and to support their communication needs and independence skills.

We recognise that for many of our students, paid employment may not be an option, which makes it essential that they should gain experience and confidence in as wide a variety of activities as possible to broaden their choices as they transition to the next stage of their adult life.

All students will have an Individual Vocational Profile which is used as a framework for developing and exploring career options to support their independent skills and prepare them for life after St Martins. The vocational profiles record their aspirations, achievements, employer encounters and consultations with the independent careers and transitions advisor.

We work with the Local Enterprise Partnership to ensure that our work-related learning and careers programme complies with Department for Education guidelines and meets the Gatsby Benchmarks.
